The Nursing department at Carter G. Woodson South Elementary school is Student Centered Care with its primary focus on illness prevention to support school attendance with minimal health limitations. The school nurse collaborates with parents, staff, students, and health care providers as needed to support an optimal learning environment for all students. In addition to preventative measures, the school nurse performs acute care duties, participates in the referral process for students who have needs outside of what the school has to offer, and is an integral part of the disciplinary team that evaluates and services those students who may require special accommodations during school hours. Immunizations and physical exams are two of our most powerful weapons against the spread of disease and the fight against pediatric illness. Please be sure to address the medical requirements that your child needs NOW, to ensure a great academic year.
